How do I calculate a discounted price?
Multiply the original price by (1 - discount/100). For example, a 25% discount on $100 gives $100 × 0.75 = $75.
How does stacking discounts work?
The second discount is applied to the already-discounted price, not the original. For example, 20% off then 10% off of $100 gives $100 × 0.80 × 0.90 = $72, which is different from a single 30% discount ($70).
Is tax calculated before or after the discount?
Tax is calculated on the discounted (final) price, not the original price. This reflects how sales tax works in most jurisdictions.
How do I find the discount percentage between two prices?
Use the formula: Discount % = ((Original - Sale) / Original) × 100. Switch to the "Find Discount %" tab and enter both prices to get an instant result.
Can I use this for bulk pricing calculations?
This calculator works for individual item pricing. For bulk orders, calculate the per-unit discount and multiply the result by the quantity.
